In this edition of 'Inside Chalk Hill', we’re pleased to introduce Matt Whitton, who joins the team bringing a diverse background and a strong track record in recruitment, relationship management and client-focused delivery.

Matt’s career journey is a great example of how varied experience can shape a well-rounded recruitment professional. His academic path laid a strong foundation for his career: Matt studied History at the University of Kent, where he developed critical thinking and analytical skills, before spending a year at the University of Miami, gaining international exposure and experience that would later inform his approach to building relationships with a diverse base of clients and candidates.

Before moving into recruitment, Matt spent time working in retail, where he developed a strong work ethic, a customer-first mindset, and an appreciation for building rapport with people from all walks of life. He later transitioned into Finance & Accountancy recruitment, where he gained valuable exposure to the finance and professional services markets. This foundation helped Matt understand client needs, candidate expectations, and the importance of clear, honest communication. Matt went on to progress his recruitment career, being promoted to Director after a series of successful years. During this time, he strengthened his consultative approach, focusing on delivering thoughtful, well-matched outcomes rather than quick fixes.

Now at Chalk Hill Group, Matt brings this breadth of experience together - combining commercial awareness, diverse perspective, and a genuinely personable approach.

Matt is known for being approachable, reliable, and easy to work with. He takes time to understand what success looks like for both clients and candidates, ensuring each process is smooth, transparent, and well-managed from start to finish. His depth of experience in Finance & Accountancy has given him a practical understanding of how businesses operate and what candidates value most - allowing him to add value beyond simply matching CVs to job descriptions. At Chalk Hill, Matt works closely with the wider team to support clients across their hiring needs, contributing to a collaborative and high-service recruitment offering.
