Having first graduated with a commendation at Portsmouth University, Chris trained and qualified as a chartered accountant with one of the top international firms of accountants, Ernst & Young, working in the Channel Islands and then Southampton. His first step into commerce was within the finance function of Allders Duty Free where Chris progressed rapidly in a company that was expanding its business both financially and geographically. After assisting with the trade sale of Allders Duty Free and working closely with Private Equity partners and banks, Chris was a key member of the management team that bought, developed and sold Millets.
Since then, Chris has been part of management teams implementing positive change and working closely with investors, often leading to a successful trade sale or flotation. These businesses included Compass Software Artigiano, ColourCare, Brakeburn, Samways and Benmor Medical. For over 20 years Chris has also been (and continues to be) a non-executive director of a private investment company, BMAK Investments, managing its finances, assisting with investment decisions and providing skills to a portfolio of clients as and when required.
Only in the last decade has Chris been involved with recruitment businesses which he is loving and articulates why, “The whole working environment has changed and continues to evolve. Providers of recruitment and employment services need to move with the times”. To back this up, he has formed a new recruitment consultancy and employment agency, Chalk Hill Group. He is joined by like-minded executives who thrive on providing client and candidates with solutions in a challenging and changing workplace.
The latest addition to the team is Chris Judd, who shares this vision and is committed to providing a service which reflects the needs of clients and candidates alike. There will be more to follow on Chris J in the next article.
